Prepping for the BoF
This afternoon I took a quick spin out to Sunnyvale Baylands Park to scout out the route for tomorrow morning’s BoF, and make sure no one had thrown up fences in the route.
It was a good two and half hours. Over the 8.1 kilometers there and back again (my GPS unit gives me relatively accurate counts of just how far I’ve travelled) I had 36 species:
- Canada Goose
- Gadwall
- American Wigeon
- Mallard
- Northern Shoveler
- Green-winged Teal
- Ruddy Duck
- Pied-billed Grebe 2
- American White Pelican 3
- Double-crested Cormorant 6
- Great Blue Heron 1
- Great Egret
- Turkey Vulture 2
- White-tailed Kite 2
- American Kestrel 1
- American Coot
- Killdeer 1
- Black-necked Stilt
- American Avocet
- Lesser Yellowlegs 1
- Rock Pigeon
- Mourning Dove
- Anna’s Hummingbird 1
- Black Phoebe
- American Crow
- Northern Rough-winged Swallow
- Bushtit
- Marsh Wren
- European Starling
- Yellow-rumped Warbler
- California Towhee 1
- White-crowned Sparrow
- Golden-crowned Sparrow
- Red-winged Blackbird
- Western Meadowlark
- House Finch
I hope these all show up tomorrow, but we’ll probably miss a few, and pick up a few more. Here are a few pictures of what we can look forward to:
