VMWare Fusion Cheap
Just noticed that Academic Superstore has VMWare Fusion on sale for $39.95 with free shipping, no rebates or academic IDs required. That’s more than $20 cheaper than I’ve seen it anywhere else. I’ll probably grab a copy since the more expensive Parallels still isn’t working for me.

You can just download a 30 day eval of VMWare Fusion and see if it works. Why spend the money until you are sure it meets your needs.

I use VirtualBox on Ubuntu Linux. But they also have versions for Windows and Mac too. And it’s free, gotta dig that. So far it has worked well for me too, I’ve been using it to run Windows 2000 in a virtual machine (http://www.flickr.com/photos/timpatterson/2249712350/).

I just went through the ordering process, does it actually ship? I got this message after I went through the ordering process:
“Your order will normally release to shipping on the same business day that your eligibility is
verified.”
Just curious if you actually received your package.

I did get it, but I’d been approved as an a academic for an earlier purchase. I suspect that message is just a standard part of their order tracking system since most of their software does require eligibility approval. Let us know if it ships.

I did receive a confirmation that this product does NOT require any eligibility, and is on its way to my house :-)

I just want to report back that I did indeed receive VMWare Fusion about 2 weeks after I placed the order. The version shipped in the box is slightly older, and I immediately upgraded to the latest version by downloading it from VMWare’s site.
