The first time I saw one of these moths was at night. It was hovering while sipping nectar from some Palo Verde blossoms. At first I thought it was a hummingbird, then I thought “Hummers don’t fly at night”, looked again, and realized it was this big moth. When it landed on a tree branch its racing stripes were unmistakable. Nice to see it here.
