Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam…Spam!
I’m afraid I accidentally deleted somebody’s valid comment while cleaning up the spam. To whoever’s comment that was, I apologize. The spam is really getting ridiculous. Despite the filters I have in place, too much still gets through. It’s up to two to three hundred pieces a day. They’re three or so things I can still try:
- Move the comment scripts to a non-standard location so everything that just autospams WordPress by hitting the comment scripts directly will be confused.
- Install Akismet
- Possibly turn off commenting on some of the older posts. A few articles attract an undue percentage of the spam.
I do not want to use CAPTCHA’s, given their active hostility to blind readers; or require registration. I don’t like sites that make it too diofficult to comment.
